We had been mentioning ClamAV, but we now have a site license for Intego
VirusBarrier. Be warned; out of the box it's a bit overagressive. You
might want to develop a profile or a set of instructions on how to best
configure it for your campus.
If the "antivandal" component, for instance, sees too many probes from
your NAC, it will block that address, which often leads to mysterious
broken systems ;-)
I fully agree, however, that to suggest Macs don't need protection is,
um, unwise. Intego has caught instances of DNS changer infections as
well as the unprotected SSH server ("I didn't turn that on!") with no
password, etc. Your milage may certainly vary.
