Hello to all you ResNetters out there!
Only a 5 days remain before the deadline for nominations for the ResNet Boa=
rd of Directors.
As my colleague, Cheryl Skingley, did a couple weeks ago, I'm encouraging y=
ou all to consider nominating yourself or someone else for a position on th=
e Board. I first became involved with ResNet as a student employee at the U=
niversity of Connecticut (go Huskies!). Working that position helped me fig=
ure out that I wanted to work in higher education IT, specifically supporti=
ng students. I eventually found myself in a great position and attended my =
first ResNet conference in 2005 at Georgia Tech. I kept coming back because=
of the great people, great resources, and great information I received fro=
m the conference and the listserv. I decided to join the Board because I wa=
nted to give back to the community and organization that helped me along in=
my career. Without ResNet I wouldn't be where I am today.
Working on the Board has helped me grow as a leader. It has taught me to wo=
rk well with people of various backgrounds from all around the country (and=
even Canada!). Seeing a successful conference or satisfied members who rec=
eived help through the listserv or even seeing the crazy amount of informat=
ion being shared is quite rewarding. Giving back to this wonderful organiza=
tion has been a great experience for me. And if that's not enough, it's als=
o great for your resume and can give your institution some recognition.
If you are on the fence about serving on the Board or have any questions ab=
out serving on the Board, please contact me or any of the other Board membe=
rs. Visit the ResNet, Inc website at http://www.resnetinc.org and click on =
the Board of Directors link. You can see more information about the current=
Board. And if you click on the "Serve on the Board of Directors" link, you=
can review the roles and responsibilities of the positions that will are v=
acant.
And if you're willing to take the plunge (but trust me when I say, it's not=
into the deep end), please see the call for nominations:
