Hi Caroline,

We (UC Santa Cruz) have around the same number as you ... we have,
roughly, 6000 students that live in the residence halls. We do not have
our student employees, at the resident halls, nor do we do room visits
... well ... let me take that back .... on very very rare occasions I
may send a staff member to a room. We have two locations on campus for
the residents to come to us for computer repairs. We also have a help
line that they can call in on and we can assist them over the phone.
The help line is in our main office.

Our hours of operation at 10am to 5pm, Monday - Friday, for both phones
and walk-ins. I have 14 student employee's working for me. In the
fall the staffing numbers have been larger to handle move-in. After
move-in I let a good percentage of them go. They know when they are
hired that the job is temporary, with a chance of extension.

I can share my budget sheet with you if you are interested.

Carla
