HEOA requires that we investigate and respond to all allegations of copyrig=
ht infringement...which was all well and good until the law was actually pa=
ssed. Shortly after passage, the MPAA and RIAA ramped up their efforts at =
targeting college students for copyright infringement. Prior to the passag=
e of that law, I had less than a dozen complaints per year; totally doable.=
In late 2009-early 2010, that number increased to a dozen complaints or m=
ore per DAY; not doable. Last June, we negotiated with our central IT to ef=
fectively block p2p applications at the core; since then, we have had only =
TWO copyright infringement notices. I resent being forced into being the =
Internet Police for big industries' copyright but I don't regret blocking p=
2p.
