I see that in Google Calendar the list of attendees in the body of the
invite show w00005414@wheatoncollege.edu, but it does show the first last
of the sender at the top of the invitation.
take care,

Hi Lelio,<br>
<br>
It depends on what email client you are using, when I look at an
invite in Thunderbird's Lightening plugin or an external Webmail
interface I have it appears in the email as just
<a href=3D"mailto:w00005414@wheatoncollege.edu" target=3D"_blank">"=

I was wondering if there is a way (when routing email in and out
through Google, not using our own local servers) to mangle the
messages to do a find and replace of the username.... kinda like you
can do with other email server programs. It would require that we
have to keep an updated mapping of usernames to friendly email
address (ex: <a href=3D"mailto:w00005414@wheatoncollege.edu" target=3D"=
_blank">w00005414@wheatoncollege.edu</a> ->
<a href=3D"mailto:gibson_brian@wheatoncollege.edu" target=3D"_blank">gi=
bson_brian@wheatoncollege.edu</a>) but it would fix the issue.<br>
<br>
The other way I could think to do it is to have people use a
calendaring client (not the web interface) to send out invitations
but I am not sure how the different clients handle it.<br>

Even for userIDs that are not opaque, i.e. 8 characters like
jsmith01, you won't always be able to decipher the user. Any
calendar program I've used has included at least the first/last
name of the user so you don't have to worry about deciphering
the userID.<br>

Hi all,<br>
<br>
We use opaque user names here (ex: w00005414) and we give
everyone an <br>
email alias of lastname_firstname. It is not an issue with our
current <br>
email and calendaring systems but we are being asked to research
Google <br>
Apps and the not-so-obvious username is creating issues....
especially <br>
with calendar invites (we figured out the email side). People do
not <br>
know what to do when they receive a calendar invite from<br>
<br>
<a href=3D"mailto:w00005414@wheatoncollege.edu" target=3D"_blank">&=
quot;w00005414@wheatoncollege.edu"</a><br>
<br>
We talked to Google about this and they said there is no way to
change <br>
the calendar owner setting within your calendar.<br>
<br>
How are people dealing with this?<br>
