While it escapes my brain at the moment (and since it's only a few minutes
before I jet out of here for the long weekend, that's not too surprising!) I
believe that was a slogan for something, yes?

In any case, as I look at the countdown on
www.resnetsymposium.org/resnet2012 I see that there are 22 weeks, 3 days,
23 hours and some minutes before the 2012 STC starts here in Claremont.

Yep - just 22 weeks to go! Just think of sunny Southern California while you're
in your chilly location. What is it in Atlanta? 30? Whew. It's 73 here. :D

In any case, we're approaching the Free Afternoon activities (for boss-
purposes, I call it "Networking Afternoon") by offering four "sponsored"
activities:

1. Hiking in the foothills. There are some amazing hikes, and Matt is going to
take a bunch of you up Icehouse Saddle. I've done this hike many times and
it's beautiful!

2. Getty Museum. This will entail some cost as it's going to be a bus trip.
However, it should be worth it. There will be a minimum for this.

3. Beach trip to Balboa/Seal Beach. Beach-walk, surf, wonderful atmosphere;
yep, all of that. Bring your camera, the opportunities abound. This is one of my
favorite haunts for taking pictures. The piers are amazing, with texture, color,
so much. The sand and surf? Don't get me started - plus all the people, the
culture, the smells and the food.

4. I'm leading a Brewery Crawl. Actually, it's going to be a bus trip so there will
be both a minimum AND a maximum (30 since that will fill up the bus and it's
about the max that the brewery can handle on a tour.) We'll start at the
famous Stone Brewery with a tour, go through the Lost Abbey, Black Market,
Packinghouse, and Hangar 24. Five amazing breweries - and someone else to
drive!

So, we're organizing four. However, we know there are many who want to do
other things. Since we just might know something about it, please let us know
if you want to do something and we'll do our best to put up exhaustive
directions or instructions on how to do it. Heck, it's only web space so we can
write up a LOT of stuff. . . just let us know and we'll get it there!

I think that's it for this Friday. Spread the word - only 22 weeks left!!!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
Mike
