Greetings ResNet!

I can't believe it's been almost five months since we hosted the 18th
annual ResNet Student Technology Conference here at Yale. Time sure
does fly when you're not hosting a conference! (Though I recall that
it also flies when you are hosting, too...)

Planning is well under way for the 2012 conference at The Claremont
Colleges in California and is just beginning for the 2013 conference
at Purdue University in Indiana. We hope to make them the best
conferences yet.

Despite all this planning for 2012 and 2013, we're looking even
farther to the future: I'm excited to announce that we're now
soliciting bids to host the 2014 ResNet Student Technology Conference.

Personally speaking (and I'm sure all seventeen former conference
hosts would agree), hosting a ResNet Conference provides you and your
colleagues an opportunity to highlight your institution. And while
hosting was certainly a challenge, it was one of the most fun and
rewarding experiences of my career, and helped me develop many skills.
And though summer 2014 may seem like a long way off, those who have
hosted in the past agree that having this much time to plan greatly
facilitates the quality and success of the event.

In general, the bid process is broken into three phases:

Phase 1 - Submit a letter of intent to the Conference Selection
Committee. The letter should contain your reasons for wanting to host,
as well as an indication of support from your immediate supervisor.
(Due December 15th)

Phase 2 - Create a website highlighting your campus venues in relation
to hosting the conference. (Due January 31st)

Phase 3 - If your institution is selected as a finalist, two members
of the Conference Selection Committee will come for a site visit in
March.

For more information on submitting a bid or what hosting entails,
please visit the newly-launched ResNet site, at
http://www.resnetinc.org/student-technology-conference/hosting/.

You can also contact us (the Conference Selection Committee) at
hosting@resnetinc.org. We're happy to answer any questions you may
have. If you’re interested in joining the Conference Selection
Committee, we’ll have more info on that soon.

We look forward to seeing you at The Claremont Colleges this summer,
if not sooner!

Best,
Adam Bray
