LOL! How dare you try to downgrade from the best. iOS. Ever.

Add this line to your hosts file and then it should work using your own IPS=
W (it basically points Apple's domain to a server that will allow it).

74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com

You can remove that line when you're done. I've done this. It works.

Subject: [RESNET-L] downgrading back to ios 4.3.5

I upgraded my iPod touch 3rd generation to ios 5, and it=92s killing the pe=
rformance and battery life. I want to downgrade back to 4.3.5, but everyth=
ing I=92ve tried has failed. I=92ve searched all around with Google and Yo=
uTube and I have the correct IPSW file for my device (iPod3,1_4.3.5_8L1_Res=
tore.ipsw) and have used the Option-Click on Restore in iTunes to try and r=
estore back to that firmware, but continually get blocked by Apple, as it i=
ndicates =93device isn=92t eligible=94 for this build during the =93verifyi=
ng with Apple=94 phase. I=92ve even modified my hosts file to point to =93=
alternative=94 IP paths to gs.apple.com, and it still doesn=92t work. Has =
anyone successfully downgraded their iThingy back to pre-ios5?
