We use Group Policy to set a power plan in the labs. Previously only the
screens would sleep, but now the computers themselves go to bed after 30
minutes inactivity at the login screen (the AutoLogoff screensaver ends idle
sessions after 15 minutes, so nobody is ever 'sleeped-off' their machine).

I don't have hard numbers, but our computers consume about 80 watts each at
idle, and stats look like they're 'asleep' about 50% of the time... There
are 250 of them... At 8 cents a kilowatt-hour, that's about $7K a year in
savings (my math might be WAY off). It also reduces cooling costs
dramatically; there are rooms that used to have 24/7 'boosted' AC units that
are off most of the time now.

So... Fifteen minutes in GPMC saves $15K a year, and keeps about a bazillion
pounds of CO2 out of the atmosphere.
