I watched a webinar yesterday from Cisco about 60W UPOE which I think can be applied to eco-friendly labs. Maybe not today, but tomorrow. The biggest a-ha moment I had was the claim(?) that one big power supply is more efficient than 100 small power supplies distributed across a few rooms. Not sure how accurate this is, but I'm guessing it holds a bit of truth. ;)
I also like the idea of automatically turning power off to devices during set time frames.
Anyways, something to think about...

Subject: eco-friendly computing labs
Hi,
I'm interested in finding out what other institutions are doing to make
their existing public computing labs more green/environmentally
friendly. From power saving techniques to reducing default margins on
WORD software, making eco-friendly fonts available, whatever. Please share!
Thanks,
Stacey Kimmel-Smith
