We use PCounter and I'm considering purchasing Everyone Print as an addon to
it.
However, for now, we allow students to print from their personal computers
to the printers in our labs (both residential and main labs) just by
connecting to the print server.
I have a queue for single-sided, dbl-sided, and dbl-stapled (which gets the
most traffic). The drivers are stored on the server so typically students
don't need to install drivers - it "just works".
Macs are a different story since we have to go through CUPS to get them to
authenticate - we have written a little app which does it quite nicely. We
store the drivers on a share and the app gets user/pass and then copies the
drivers down to the user's machine. It works quite nicely. The only problem
is that the dbl and dbl-stapled queues don't work the way they should -
students have to configure them to dbl-side/staple manually.
Otherwise, works great.
Of course, we're also quite small compared to most. We're 1200 students so . . .
