ID badges are mandatory for student IT help at CCSU. Faculty are more com=
fortable with technicians wearing badges and will often question a technici=
an or supervisor who is not wearing a badge. We also have a mandatory dr=
ess code for desktop technicians - must wear a collared \ polo shirt. =
No T-shirts - we found students would push limits with offensive shirts.

Information Technology Student and Part Time Employee Dress Code Policy
Since IT employees often work directly with customers, we expect employees =
to maintain certain standards of dress. You represent the Information Techn=
ology Services Department and the image you present is important. We expect=
employees to adhere to good standards of personal hygiene and maintain a w=
ell-groomed appearance. Dress as you would for employment off campus by ano=
ther employer. (Examples might include: khakis and collared shirts) This po=
licy is the blanket policy for all of ITS. Each Manager can amend this poli=
cy so it becomes tailored to their specific area.
The rules listed below must be followed. Failure to follow these rules will=
result in the employee being sent home to change. Three violations can lea=
d to termination of employment.
1) All clothing should be neat and clean. Underwear should never be exposed=
.
2) Clothing should not display offensive words, pictures or gestures. Your =
Manager will determine what is considered offensive.
3) Torn, ripped or soiled clothing is not acceptable.
4) Shorts/skirts should not be excessively short
5) Appropriate footwear should be worn at all times. Flip-flops are not per=
mitted.
6) The following are some examples of what is considered inappropriate dres=
s. This list is not all inclusive and your Manager reserves the right to de=
em your attire inappropriate even if it is not identified below.
a. halter tops
b. clothing revealing bare midriffs
c. clothing revealing bare shoulders
d. muscle shirts
e. sweat or flannel pants
f. spandex clothing
I understand and agree to comply with the ITS student worker dress policy.

One of my techs just brought me an interesting idea: name tags for student =
employees, so customers can easily identify who is assisting them. I have =
no real intention of implementing this (...yet?), but I am curious if any o=
f you have your student employees wear name tags, and if you believe it hel=
