We have our student workers wear ID cards that we had Security make up for
this purpose. They contain a name and a picture of the student, along with
out departmental information. We have used them for about two years with no
adverse effects. It really helps, also, when we send students out to do
simple jobs such as plugging in an Ethernet cable or restarting a projector
in a classroom. This way the faculty/staff person knows they are associated
with us by more than just their word.

Subject: Name tags for student employees?
One of my techs just brought me an interesting idea: name tags for student
employees, so customers can easily identify who is assisting them. I have
no real intention of implementing this (.yet?), but I am curious if any of
you have your student employees wear name tags, and if you believe it helps
with customer interactions.
