I mentioned this to a few people at the conference, but thought I would share it with the general list. I know that many of us manage employees but don't get formal management training because our employees are students, part-time and/or contractors.
I've used resources from the Management Center (http://managementcenter.org/) successfully with my student manager crew. You have to give your email address to sign up for their newsletter and get access to their resources, but it's not a chatty newsletter at all, and the resources are great. They have things like scripts for talking to your staff in various contexts, hiring worksheets, sample policies and project plans. I've used the feedback worksheet to help coach student managers through giving feedback to others.
In any case, free resources are always good, so I encourage you to check it out when you have a second.
Best,
Erin
