Two years ago I went on this same search. I ended up buying 4 Datum LapTop
Security Vault/Tower cabinets and a rolling storage cart. The cabinets have
5 fixed horizontal shelves, with numerous adjustable vertical dividers. We
put each laptop with its form, software, ac adapter, etc into a large
(15"x20") industrial zip close bag and then put each one into a slot. I've
labeled them cabinets 1-4, shelves 1-5 and rows A-H. The techs then update
their ticket with the current location of the machine. This is particularly
helpful in the fall when we can get to hovering around 50-75 machines.
The cart we use simply because our front desk is separate (in the lobby)
while our work area and main office are down in an access controlled
basement. I started having the staff check in the machines at the front
desk, loading them into the cart. At the end of their shift they transition
the machines into the main cabinets.
