P2P.
Passing along info about this free webcast arranged by our friends at Educause.-Dee

"Alphabet Soup: A P2P, DMCA, and HEOA FAQ"
http://net.educause.edu/live1114
1-2pm U.S. Eastern Time, Wednesday, May 18. No charge, but registration required. Archived for future (re)viewing.
Speakers:
Joseph Storch
Associate Counsel, Office of University Counsel, SUNY System Administration
Heidi Wachs
Director of IT Policy and Privacy Officer, Georgetown University
Kent Wada
Director, Strategic IT and Privacy Policy, UCLA
Summary:
Colleges and universities, like all Internet service providers, may benefit from the safe harbor provided by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), provided that they take certain steps. They must, however, comply with the notification and written plan to reduce illegal file sharing requirements of the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA). In this 60-minute session, an attorney and two college DMCA agents will discuss the requirements that the DMCA and HEOA impose on our institutions in an effort to educate DMCA agents, CIOs, networking staff, and college attorneys alike on this complex topic. Joseph Storch of SUNY, Heidi Wachs of Georgetown, and Kent Wada of UCLA will decipher this ³alphabet soup,² translating the legalese requirements into accessible English while answering frequently asked questions and offering best practices for compliance.
