Thanks for the heads up on the OpenWRT, I'll look into that. I am a fan
of the WRT54GL, four summers ago we rolled out 43 of these and have only
lost 1. As a state school with a low budget (and getting lower) these
work well for us.

And thanks to others for the dlink and microsemi links. This info
certainly helps with our "inexpensive" wireless expansion.

You sir, are awesome. These beasts are so cheap and easy, and I've only
seen one fail after supporting maybe a dozen for six years (so that's
$60 to replace one in 72 years of operation). I'm actually surprised
more places aren't just modifying off-the-shelf stuff like this.

Make sure to at least try the pre-released binaries, I've found them to
be much better than the old 'stable' releases:

ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2011/

I think that for a multi-AP deployment in a school or business I would
probably opt for OpenWRT, but that's just me. DD-WRT's semi-closed
top-down development model and issues they've had with the open source
community scare me a bit.

ethernet adapter kits, but these seem to have been discontinued.

Anyone know where to get a cheap, UL listed, POE injector/receiver kit
that works with the WRT54GL?
