At our campus we got sick and tired of replacing/repairing broken/stolen
staplers and no longer
have them available in our labs. We have a sign on the Help Desk stating this.
 Fun thing is
students will move the sign to ask if we have a stapler.

When I started at the university 11 years ago, it was in coordinating labs for
our biggest department. I was put on the task of supplying the labs with
staplers and hole punches. This has been an on going battle now with the
various system admins and the students. I think the students feel that they are
entitled to staplers and hole punches.

The university has had nothing but issues keeping working equipment in the
labs. We are now re-evaluating if this is something that we should continue to
fight with or just tell the students that it is not a service we will continue
to support.

What does your university do? How do you deal with keeping staplers filled and
in working condition or do you not have them available?

Thanks for your time.
