We just had a recap discussion on this at our general staff meeting. Yes,
we hit the ceiling on bandwidth management and had to do an emergency
replace on our device (PacketShaper). There was a project already started
to replace it, but a sudden uptick of problems caused it to get
"accelerated". We went with a new BlueCoat box and so far things are
running smoothly. Since replacement the peak has grown nearly a hundred
megs. About 70% of our bandwidth is streaming media and social
networking. We are also already out of the bandwidth bracket we purchased
a while back.
Just curious.. Does anyone else see a large portion of their high request
counts come from NeoPets? That took us by surprise.
