Hi Rose,

We did not want the overhead of troubleshooting issues to our wireless infr=
astructure that wireless printers were bringing so we circumvented that iss=
ue by stating that printers can be connected with a USB cable and wireless =
was not supported. Cables could be obtained by a visit to the University bo=
okstore or the local office.

Subject: Wireless printing in the dorms

Hi Everyone,

We are looking into allowing students to connect their wireless printers to=
the network which will allow them to print in their dorm rooms. We curren=
tly do not allow network printers for students and we recommend that they c=
onnect directly to the computer.

Has anyone opened the flood gates for printers? Do you have any success an=
d/or horror stories to share? Do you provide personal printer support to t=
he students? If so, do you limit what type of support is offered. We curr=
ently provide support to students for their computing issues over the phone=
& in our service center. We don't make house calls to the dorms.

Thanks,
Rose
