Subject: Re: Reverse Proxy Software
Hi Lelio,
I have always used Apache ( http://httpd.apache.org/ ) to do my reverse proxy work. It is simple to understand and setup, and Apache can handle all of your authentication/authorization needs. Squid is another popular proxy solution: http://www.squid-cache.org/ , though I have never used it in production. I have never used a vendor supported solution, so don't have any insight there.
Let me know if you have any questions.
thanks,
speeves

Just wondering if anyone out there has used any vendor based/supported reverse proxy software to protect specialized (or not so specialized) servers. We have a server that we can not change the admin port on so all a user has to do is change the URL to access the admin pages. Although they still need a userID/password it still leaves me a little unsettled...you know post-it notes and all. ;)
I'm looking for some very good vendor support, one that will help us build the solution, hopefully under the maintenance contract rather than with professional services since it's a fairly simply deployment.
Looking forward to any responses.
Lelio
