Subject: SIGUCCS Spring Management Symposium

Dear Colleagues --

The 38th annual ACM SIGUCCS Spring Management Symposium
< http://www.siguccs.org/Conference/Spring2011/ > will be held in
Philadelphia, PA, from April 10 - April 13, 2011. The conference theme is
"IT: Leading the Revolution." This symposium offers higher education IT
leaders and future leaders a forum to network with colleagues and share
expertise, ideas, and solutions via presentations and discussions.

This year's symposium is organized into the following three tracks:
* Innovative Leadership, Professional Development, Partnerships and
Collaboration.
* Managing New Technology Trends: Green Computing, Social Networking, Cyber
security and Virtualization.
* IT Workforce Planning, Change Management, Fiscal Planning and Diversity.

Highlights of the conference include:
* Pre-conference executive seminar, "Calm, Confident, Connected - Is this
Your Leadership Style?" led by Dr. Stephen G. Payne. Dr. Payne, is an
executive leadership coach, speaker, author and founder of A New
Equilibrium, a community of men and women leaders committed to expanding
their leadership capabilities by seeking and achieving balance in their
lives.

* Opening Keynote, "Laughing, Learning and Leading" by Peter M. Jonas, Ph.D.
Peter is a Professor of research and chairperson of the Doctoral Leadership
Department at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee WI, where he has been
for almost 30 years teaching, researching, and serving in various leadership
capacities (e.g., Director of Institutional Research, Dean in the College of
Business). Ultimately, Peter attempts to integrate teaching, scholarship,
service, and humor into his leadership philosophy.

* Plenary Speaker, "Navigating the Maddening Crowds and Thickening Clouds"
by Sheri Stahler, Associate Vice President for Computer Services at Temple
University. This discussion-based presentation will examine a variety of
current groundswells, including cloud computing, crowdsourcing, and social
media. The discussion will also explore ways in which technology leaders of
the next decade can identify which of these emerging trends would be useful
in the academy.

* Closing session, "Through the Looking Glass: The Past and Future of the
Internet and How it Affects Us All" by Dr. Doug Gale, one of higher
education's leading Information Technology visionaries having played key
roles in the microcomputer revolution, the creation of both the Internet and
Internet 2, and the subsequent deployment of higher education dark fiber
networks. His presentation will look more closely at how and why the
Internet evolved as it did as well as ways the Internet affects and is
affected by society.

To see the complete schedule of speakers and events go to
http://www.siguccs.org/Conference/Spring2011/program.html

The Association for Computing Machinery and its Special Interest Group on
University and College Computing Services (ACM SIGUCCS for short) sponsors a
management symposium, big enough to offer a wealth of useful information and
ideas, but small enough so participants can develop in-depth professional
relationships with other attendees.

Please join us in Philadelphia for this year's excitement and learning.

Of special note: Early registrants will be entered into a drawing to receive
an upgrade to a suite, at the group room rate.
