Greetings ResNet Community;
It's been six months since an outstanding 17th annual ResNet Symposium at W=
estern Washington University. We are now entering into a new era with an ex=
citing new name: ResNet presents the Student Technology Conference. What ha=
sn't changed is this: the Student Technology Conference is the only all-vol=
unteer professional organization that brings together technology profession=
als from all over the world, in an intimate, focused gathering to discuss, =
debate, explore, and learn about topics of relevance and interest to all of=
us. It's a place for connecting, for learning new tools, sharing ideas, ex=
panding professional development, and both learning from, and giving back t=
o our community. The new name solidifies our mission and will expose a whol=
e new group of IT professionals to our organization and conference.
The gears are already in motion for the 2011 conference at Yale University =
and the 2012 conference at The Claremont Colleges in California. It's that =
time of the year when we begin the bid process to select our host for the 2=
013 Student Technology Conference.
The bid process is broken into three phases.
Phase 1 consists of a letter of intent to be submitted to the Host Selectio=
n Committee chaired by Teresa Pearson, Director of Conference Management. T=
he letter should contain your reasons for wanting to host, as well as an in=
dication of support from your immediate supervisor.
Phase 2 consists of a website highlighting your campus venues in relation t=
o hosting the conference.
Phase 3 is a site visit by two members of the host selection committee.
As all seventeen former Symposium hosts can attest, hosting ResNet is a rew=
arding experience that provides you and your campus associates an opportuni=
ty to highlight your institution. Although summer 2013 may seem like a long=
time in the future, those who have hosted ResNet in the past agree that ha=
ving this much time to plan greatly facilitates the quality and success of =
the event.
Please review the "Call for Bids to Host" documents on the ResNet Wiki site=
under Hosting Resources for details: http://resnetsymposium.org/wiki/index=
.php/Category:Hosting_Resources. A letter of intent to bid along with a le=
tter of support from your immediate supervisor should be submitted to the R=
esNet Board of Directors (resnet2011-board@resnetsymposium.org<mailto:resne=
t2011-board@resnetsymposium.org>) on or before Monday, February 14, 2011. =
Final bids are due by Monday, March 7, 2011.
Questions? Feel free to contact me (teresa.pearson@resnetsymposium.org<mail=
to:teresa.pearson@resnetsymposium.org>) or any of the board members should =
any arise as you think of answering our call to be the 2013 ResNet Student =
Technology Conference hosts.
We're looking forward to seeing you on the beautiful and historic Yale camp=
us, if not sooner!
Best regards,
Teresa Pearson
