I can second the LabStats/LabMaps suggestion. One of our more enterprising
Library staff even made an iPhone app that scrapes data from the LabStats
server and shows users pie charts of available computers on your mobile
device. Check it out (there's an accurate demo on the right margin of the
linked page):
