If you are changing terminal to vt100 after login, you need to set:
set term=vt100
setenv TERM vt100
unsetenv TERMCAP
I tried both vt100 and dec-vt100, I'm not sure, but it looked like they had the same termcap
descriptions. But, if you have a bad term, it shouldn't really hang up, emacs just says it
won't work...anyways, I've tried both with vt100 and dec-vt100, and have had no
problems...good luck.
