I've tried the PDA solution this year with an HP Jornada. As far as
hardware and software go, the PDA solution works great and is nice to have
the extra functionality of an OS. However, I have problems with making it
a reliable device when it is shared by 30 people. Little things like not
remembering to plug it in after you're done really make it's reliability
take a nosedive. Somehow getting 30 people to notice the little things
every time is a big task. I've decided to put in an order for a Psiber
Pinger. Looks like it will be the perfect solution if it indeed does
10/100 auto-negotiated networks.

The DSL implementation we have brings data over copper and then converts it
back to 10/100 ethernet using cat5. On the front end and back ends, it is
the same as "ordinary" ResNets, but the middle piece bringing data to the
residence hall is DSL.
