hoax?
No, it's not a hoax. The article was based on documents filed with the U.S. SEC and an interview with the company's CEO.
Thanks for writing.

John, We heard it was, but the National ResNet Support list is going nuts over it like it is true. Please say it is a hoax on the cnet.com site, if it is. If it is not a hoax, please let me know so we can be prepared on university campuses.
Thanks,
Colleen

Another article "excerpting" the SEC filing. I have reviewed the SEC filings
for the company, and the annual report filed yesterday is not yet available
electronically; it should be posted to EDGAR in the next day or so. I'll
keep my eye out.

I admit the same thought crossed my mind.
It is still posted as a headline on CNET's web site today, and it is
also posted on MSNBC's web site, so I'm assuming its legitimate.
I checked Kazaa's and Brilliant's web sites, and neither site
confirmed nor denied the article.
(If this was an April Fool's joke, I would hope they'd want to set
the record straight, just like Taco Bell did a few years ago when
NBC's April Fool's joke stated that they were going to sponsor the
restoration of the Liberty Bell and rename it the "Taco Liberty
Bell.")
