Currently, we don't do anything (that I know of).
I use Trillian (http://www.ceruleanstudios.com) to interface both Yahoo!
Instant Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger at work without any problems.

How do you handle the various instant messaging applications?
Do you allow them all? Any? Which ones? If so, what has this done to your
bandwidth usage?
How do you handle security for them?
We're getting some heat from students about wanting ALL instant messaging
applications available, and we're interested in your experiences with this
topic.
Thanks, KN
