                           SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

University Computing Services at the University of Indianapolis seeks an 
enthusiastic and resourceful person to work directly with faculty to develop 
multimedia materials for classroom and lab use.  Other areas of expertise 
include:  provide training sessions as requested by departments; develop 
database solutions for administrative purposes; manage the universityUs Gopher 
and World Wide Web servers; teaching the faculty and students about the Internet
and how to use its resources; and provide assistance to the DOS/Windows and 
Macintosh Specialists in their absence or as otherwise needed.  Position reports
to the Director, University Computing Services.

Requirements:  Successful applicant must have a BachelorUs degree with 4 or more
years software development experience.  Extensive experience with multimedia 
authoring applications, primarily HyperCard and ToolBook is required.  
Experience with managing Gopher servers, HTML, Mosaic, and the Internet is 
required.  Mastery of WordPerfect for Windows and DOS, ClarisWorks, FileMaker 
Pro is preferred.  Experience with Clarion Professional Developer and FoxPro 
encouraged.  Experience with AppleTalk and Novell preferred.  Successful 
applicants must have excellent organizational, teaching, and communication 
skills.  A successful record of working with others on projects involving the 
use of on-line resources is essential.
