                        TWO Full-Time Positions Available

                        Academic Computing Resource Specialist




Reporting to the Director of Academic Computing,  responsible for support
of all areas of computer use relevant to academics.  Focus on training
services and direct user support.

        -       Develop and conduct workshops
        -       Develop documentation systems
        -       Train and assist faculty, especially in the development of new
                        uses of computing technology
        -       Evaluate software and hardware
        -       Participate in the planning and design of new services and
                        procedures
        -       Assist in overseeing activities of student computing consultants
        -       Provides prompt, high-quality service to both faculty and
                        students

Position 1: Responsible for support to the Science departments and
Mathematics.  Experience with scientific computing methods required (ex.,
programming, mathematical analysis, modelling, X-windows, etc.). Good
understand of academic content area methods and topics required.

Position 2: Responsible for support to the Social Science departments.
Experience with computer-based statistical analysis is required. Experience
with social science content areas and  methodologies required. Database
design and data conversion experience helpful.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

        -       Teaching experience highly desirable
        -       Top-notch organizational skills
        -       Strong writing and presentation skills,
        -       mature and professional interpersonal skills
        -       Extensive experience with Macintosh microcomputers,
                along with Microsoft Windows and DOS
        -       Familiarity with UNIX
        -       Experience with network services (LANs and WANs) and resources
        -       Bachelors degree required
        -       1-2 years experience in academic computing preferred


Understanding of, and dedication to the mission of a liberal arts college.
Ability to collaborate effectively with and advocate for faculty. Coverage
of one evening per week is required.  Salary from $26,000 per year or more,
depending upon qualifications and experience.
