Just retrofitted a dorm with Xirrus XR-320 units. Dual band units with
four ports on the bottom, just like the Cisco 702W. We do not have an
ESSID per suite, we are just broadcasting the campus-wide ESSIDs from
the in-suite units. So far it has been amazing, hardware wise, though
we are still sorting out the controller situation ... good news is
they don't need the controller to be online to continue switching
traffic, so it's been smooth sailing even in that regard.

In our other residence halls we used ceiling mounted AP's in the hallway, outside of rooms, and there seems to be a lot of issues reaching corners of the buildings and, in the taller buildings, a lot of interfering devices.
