ResNet at Tech does not have any real input on cards, so I asked our
resident card services person to chime in on the topic. This is what he
came back with.

Jason,

Michigan Tech currently uses CBORD for Access Control, Meal Plans,
Stored/Value Credit Plans and entitlement checks.

We have about 250 wired locations, 115 wireless locations and 9 meal plan
readers.

External doors are wired for cost and resiliancy reasons.

Choice of credential will vary cost greatly. From $1.50 for MiFare Classic
to $3.50 for MiFare aptiQ. Both of these have mag stripes as well.

We will be replacing all mag stripe readers with aptiQ readers over the
next 3-4 months.

If you, or anyone on the list, would like to discuss our choices at
Michigan Tech, feel free to contact me directly.
