Hi Gang,
We're still ResCons and Senior ResCons here at Binghamton U.
Originally it stood for _Res_idential Computer _Con_sultants to
distinguish them from the PodCons, the lab consultants.
Our labs are called Pods but that's another piece of Binghamton history.
In recent years ResCon has come to mean Residential Communications
Consultant. That seems fine to me.
When masses of ResCons rally to extinguish move-in days hot spots, we
call them Zot Squads
in memory of a long ago but still famous lightning strike event when
ResCons again rallied to save the day.
The genius who invented the program here created ResCon email addresses
for every residence hall building.
The address for any building is RC{and the first 5 letters of the
building name}.
So, to contact the ResCon in Smith Hall, you would send an email to
rcsmith@binghamton.edu.
(but please don't - she's overworked)
Although institutional memory undergraduate lasts only 2 or 3 years,
everyone seems to pass on this little email trick by word of mouth.
We'll probably stick to ResCons for a while.
