As a previous native of the Northern Indiana area, I can vouch that Connor Prairie is absolutely awesome, but it's definitely got a drive attached to it.

Hi Kathy,

Sorry for the delay in responding but Connor Prairie (http://www.connerprairie.org/) is a little bit of a drive at about an hour and a half from Purdue, but it is certainly a doable trip in a rental car if you and any other like minded attendees wish to go. I will add that we have an Avis and Budget car rental location within walking distance and ZipCars (http://www.zipcar.com/) available for shorter trips around town.

An alternative to Connor Prairie, (it was a close runner-up in our free day activities selection) were three nearby locations that include:
Historic Prophetstown (http://prophetstown.org/)
Wolf Park (http://www.wolfpark.org/)
Tippecanoe Battlefield & Museum (http://www.tcha.mus.in.us/battlefield.htm)

We're working hard to put together a great conference, hope you and your colleagues can attend!
