We also have been using RT for a number of years in our organization.

If you're looking for general input, here's two cents.  It's a great free
solution, but to get it setup and maintained requires a bit more effort than
your typical paid application. For us, it's a learning opportunity for our
student staff, so we're not too concerned with the lack of vendor support as
long as the product itself is solid, which it is.

If you have any specific questions, just reply to the list, there appears to be
plenty of folks who are using RT.
