It works with MAC too. Never had an issue with Teamviewer.
If you are a google school and have g+ enabled another option is to have a
google hangout and instruct the user to share their screen. You could not
control it but you could talk them through what to do. I know sometimes
people can be paranoid about the remote control software so if they wanted
to give you view access but not control, that might be an alternative.
