Hello all,
I have been asked to inquire how others are responding to requests regarding accommodating needs of gaming communities. Here at The University of Alabama in Huntsville we have a student organization (Student Run e-Sports) that IT partners with on a regular basis to support gaming events including two yearly gaming events as well as ongoing activities. They have come to us with a request to run a server to support Minecraft. In addition to being available on ResNet, they want to access it via the Internet so it is available to off-campus students.
Do any of you allow for this type of activity? If so, what policies and assurances do you have in place for security?
Many thanks in advance for your thoughts and input.
Warm regards,
Pam Tejes
