Subject: Small Scale Distributed Antenna Systems or Microcell
I'm beginning a little research on DAS and microcell systems. We would like
to get cell signal down to our main technology center in the basement of the
library (the Technology Commons houses a big computer lab, helpdesk, meeting
rooms, classroom, equipment checkout, repair center, and more). We are
talking about a fairly open space with low ceilings the size of a basketball
court. The main problem is that in the basement it is very difficult to get
a GPS lock unless you either 1. Have really good equipment or 2. Run cables
for an antenna outside. I'm interested in people's experiences with the
equipment, vendors, and contractors for installation. Again, this is pretty
small scale so if we can do this ourselves, all the better.
Thanks,
