You're doing the right thing by using CAT 5 cable to the station. I would
recommend making sure that CAT 5 punchdowns are used at both ends and that the
cable is tested after installation to make sure that it meets the standard. In
a CAT 5 installation, the twists in the pairs need to be maintained right up to
the punchdown unlike CAT 3 where the wire can be stripped back and still meet
the spec. Another thing to consider is that CAT 5 is physically much thicker
than CAT 3 and will take up more room in conduits and wiremold. Make sure that
your wiring pathways will accommodate all the cable you want to put in them.
