I get mailings from Asante all the time, but that's a Asante mailing list
that I've put myself on. I do *not* tolerate unsolicited blind sales mail.
If Farallon were to send a *single* message out to this mailing list saying
"We're forming a mailing list to distribute information about Farallon
products, send email to xxx@farallon.com to be added to the list", I would
consider that, while technically outside the charter of the mailing list,
acceptable and reasonable.
