Mike Maschino, Senior Staff Engineer employed with Motorola. Presently
acting as Technical Manager developing the audit and intrusion/anomoly
analysis capability for the US Fed Govt's MISSI Program in support of the
DMS and DII Security Management Infrastructure.
In terms of the "System" I'm developing audit/intrusion/etc for, I need to
address virtually all of the "narrow focuses" that IDS and present IDS
products seem to specialize on. The eventual IDS system developed for the
US Govt will have to address all issues of internal and external misuse,
legal proofs of misuse, understanding of the credibility of collected
"audit" data, proactive detection, and reactive options, "upgrading" of
"audit"/"misuse" information from OS's and Applications, etc. And it must
scale from implementations of one or two monitored workstations, to hundreds
of thousands of monitored workstations and platforms (using all different
forms of inter-workstation connectivity). Sure will be fun. :) :)
I've also experience in developing firewalls, proxys, and secure email
systems.
Thanks, - Mike Maschino
