Good observation. Regarding the "freedom fighters" comment, a
significant minority already hold that belief. Despite the ideal,
however, certain information must be safeguarded regardless of the
hackers' political beliefs.
Another comment: You realize that the IDS community has the media, the
technology, and the money on it's side to, well, keep people out. The
hacker community has, er, incentive. I'm avoiding any mention of
intelligence here, but am I missing something?
