BibFrame, an interface between FrameMaker and BibTeX, the LaTeX tool for
generating bibliographies, is now installed in the FrameMaker
("picture") locker. I still have a slight problem with the RS/6000
version, but the DECstation is ready to be used and/or tested.

There are two FrameMaker documents which describe how to use BibFrame.
They are both in picture/contrib/bibframe/doc:

  BibFrame_UsersGuide.mif	- The BibFrame User's Guide
BibFrame_RDF_Guide.mif	- Managing BibTeX Reference Database
				  Files With FrameMaker

You can either print them out for yourself or ask me to copy the ones I
have. (If you read these documents: BIBFRAMEBIN has been defined
system-wide, and Maker.cmdEscape is already TRUE.)

If you already know BibTeX, here's the basics on using BibFrame:

-----
* Set the environment variable BIBFRAMEREF before running maker. This
should be a comma separated list of reference database files including
the fullpath but without the .bib extension. For example

	setenv BIBFRAMEREF /mit/picture/contrib/bibframe/ref/bf_doc

* Access BibFrame's features through keyboard macros executed by typing
C-r, or <Escape> followed by keys defining the macro. These are the
  basic macros:

C-r bm	Convert highlighted text to a citation. You do not type
		the []'s
C-r bk	Quick version of C-r bm. This coverts the word the
cursor is in or adjacent to *if* the word contains only
		letters or underscore characters
C-r bb	Generate the bibliography. This can take a while, so
		be patient :-)
C-r bi	Insert the bibliography into the document at the current
		cursor location.
-----

Notes: BibFrame currently does not work with books; you need to
generate bibliographies for each chapter and combine them
	by hand.
For information on customizing BibFrame, see the User's Guide.
For Twm users: If anyone figures out how to make Frame autoplace
the gazillion windows it pops up, please let me know.
