Here are my justifications for each of the that clauses.
(I killed the senator appointment part after it was suggested to me that it is not the UA's
responsibility to make sure that a constituency is represented — that's the constituency's job):
First that clause (voting methods):
I'm just trying to have the bylaws reflect what actually goes down in Senate. I'd also like to add
flexibility for using different voting methods to improve efficiency.
Second that clause (removal of absentee balloting):
RONR strongly recommends against this. I think it goes against the spirit of Senate.
Third that clause (removal of "non voting"):
These words imply that Senate is not allowed to vote to suspend the rules, adjourn or any other
incidental things that come up during a meeting. That's sort of ... awkward. The last part of that
clause already ensures that we only do budgets.
Fourth that clause (nomcomm stuff):
This is sort of what we've been going off of this year, so I'd just like to clarify it. There are
also a couple of grammar things I clarified.
Fifth that clause (amendment):
In RONR, things that are on the table at the end of a meeting fall to the floor at the end of that
meeting. This is not really what we want, and this just clarifies it.
So yeah, if you have any questions, let me know. Thanks,
