A few comments on 41 UAS 13.2:
- First of all, I don't think this is strictly a by-laws maintenance bill. I
think some of the suggested changes are controversial enough that they
shouldn't all be lumped into one bill.
- I'm specifically concerned with the first That statement. I don't think
the UA President or Senate Officers should have the ability to appoint a
Senator, even with Senate approval. I think it would be better to have a
vacant seat rather than have a new Senator appointed by someone who is not
from the Senator's constituency. I understand that this provision is only
valid after 2 full Senate meetings, but what happens if e.g. the president
is not satisfied with any of the Senate applicants? I'd rather have an empty
senate seat, even in the (unlikely) case of completely gross negligence on
the part of a constituency president. Not naming a new Senator in two weeks
is also, in my opinion, a poor judgment of negligence, as suggested by my
above example. It is the constituency's responsibility to select their
representatives, and I think it would be more appropriate to leave a seat
empty than for someone else to appoint a new Senator.

Hey guys,
I have been working on a couple of bills, so I'm sorry this took so long.
The agenda is at http://web.mit.edu/ua/senate/UAS41/agendas/2010-04-05.pdf.
The relevant legislation should be linked correctly. If I messed it up,
please let me know.
My bills are sort of done. I'll continue to be updating them before the
meeting tomorrow.
See you tomorrow-
