Dear Senate,
I would like to present our MEF allocations for Senate Approval on Monday
(apologies for the late announcement).
This is the first MEF round ever. We had two groups apply.
(Liaison: Danielle) Africa Students Association - 6-0-0 - $792.61, full
funding for their fall Freshmen BBQ event.
(Liaison: Rachel) SEALNet@MIT - 6-0-0 - $1500 out of $2010-$2370 requested.
We decided to not fund raffles or student performances. They did not provide
enough details on the performances and they could probably get groups to
perform for free.
Background on MEF - Introduced with the new bylaws at the beginning of this
term, MEF's goal is to fund events that were previously too expensive for
Finboard but not expensive enough for LEF. Student groups apply for events
that cost $500-$2500. MEF is allocated twice a year. We just allocated MEF
for events occurring in July - December, 2011.
Emily
