Subject: Finboard items for next Monday
To: ua-speaker@mit.edu
I would like to present two items for Senate approval on Monday.
1. Komaza - 6-0-0 - Komaza originally had a negative account balance. They
applied early and it was Finboard's fault for not alerting them to this
issue sooner. They have since sorted out the negative account balance issue.
Finboard would like to grant them full funding: 2240 (2200 for P&P, 40 for
events).
2. Flying Club - 7-0-1 - Flying Club is organizing a fly-in event. Members
of Flying Club, family, and alumni are traveling to Beverly airport. It will
be a relaxing social event, and they will watch planes take off all day. The
event is open to the MIT community and is free for all attendees. Finboard
would like to grant them 400 for food and 500 for transportation. Although
this is not full funding (food costs were estimated to be 600 and
transportation costs 600), Flying Club has said that this would be
acceptable. This is also funding within our guidelines (
ua.mit.edu/funding/finboard/policies.pdf). Estimated attendance is 40 MIT
students and 40 alumni/family members. They did not apply sooner because
they had not received the opportunity to host this event until recently.
