I think it would be useful to comprise all the facts we know about FPOPs,
REX and Orientation prior to making policy or implementation recommendations
about changes to these programs. I've written down some facts I think would
be useful for discussion purposes. I suggest that people add to this list of
information.
1. Students participating in International Orientation, FPOPs, and fall
sports arrive earlier than the rest of the class. According to Julie Norman,
the students who arrive "early" comprise 75% of the class.
2. Students who participated in Interphase may also have the opportunity to
stay on campus after Interphase ends, and thus would be on campus prior to
the normal arrival date.
3. The FPOPs on the newly proposed schedule would begin on Thursday and end
either on Sunday or Monday.
4. Students participating in DEAPS Yellowstone, DEAPS Climate, FOP Hiking,
FOP Biking, FOP Sailing, and FLP will not be on campus for the duration of
their FPOPs.
5. Freshmen must be registered on Thursday before classes begin (according
to Dean Norman).
6. Freshmen must take the math diagnostic and ASEs before registering for
classes.
