I installed "xmcd" for the Suns in the Sipb locker. xmcd is a nice
graphical interface to playing audio CDs. It's a neat toy. Play with
it now, while there are still some public Sparc 5's with working CD
players! :-)
To run xmcd:
add sipb
xmcd &
To get more information:
add sipb
man xmcd

P.S. I've also installed it for SGI's, but I haven't yet completely
configured it for the SGI's CD players, so any success that you have
using xmcd on an SGI is purely coincidental. If I manage to figure
out all of the configuration info and get it working, I'll announce it
here.
P.P.S. I'd like to install it for Linux and NetBSD, but I don't know
if I can configure it to use all the different types of CD Rom drives
out there. (Or any of them, for that matter.)
