I have installed a simple tool named "readcomics" in the outland
locker to automatically read comics from newsgroups such as
clari.feature.dilbert, clari.feature.bizarro, and
clari.feature.worldviews.
To use readcomics, create a .comicsrc file in your home directory,
containing, on each line, the name of a newsgroup you want to read
comics in. For instance, it might read:
clari.feature.dilbert
clari.feature.bizarro
clari.feature.worldviews
Then just run the commands:
add outland
readcomics
The readcomics program uses metamail to process each of the new
articles in the selected newsgroups (using the ~/.comicsrc file to
keep track of the last article processed in each newsgroup). metamail
will (typically) use xv to display each of the comics in turn, waiting
for you to type 'q' in the window after each comic.
readcomics is available for Ultrix, Solaris, AIX, and Linux. It is
not installed for NetBSD because the mime locker does not currently
contain software for NetBSD.
Like most programs in the outland locker, readcomics has only been
loosely tested. Report bugs to bug-outland.
readcomics. Easier than the web.
